Invited by the Higher Academy of Arts of Bogota, Faizal Zeghoudi revisited Le Sacre du Printemps following the commission of the Ibero-americano festival in 2010 to celebrate the bicentenary of the independence of Colombia.
In Faizal Zeghoudi's version, the chosen one is the one who will sacrifice himself to save his clan, his family, his group, in the name of his ancestors. He is the one who give birth to the new day, to the return of the sun to his native land. The power of Stravinsky's music, its lyricism and its rituality nourish the interpretation of the Coronation by Faizal Zeghoudi:
“The movement is the visual part of the Coronation and it is in the repetition of the gesture that I find this kinesthetic state which makes the body and the gesture of the dancer permeable. I also rely on his mind; I strengthen his emotional state. I constantly ask him for the strength of the gaze and the control of the center of the body essential for the speed of movement and the precision of the sudden stops that punctuate the piece. The imagery, both musical and plastic, helps the dancer-performer in his construction of gesture and state. "
